Most people end up here (skid row) because they are an alcoholic and/or a drug addict.
If you are like me, you get here because of multiple health dilemmas combined with horrific assaults from your spouse.
So, If you are not an alcoholic or drug addict when you get here,
you become one because you cannot deal the horrors that life has dealt you.
And you learn to regret the fact that you held on to life so hard, so many times, when your life could and should have ended, only to be persecuted because you have survived so many unthinkable events.
You become so far entrenched and so far gone financially, that even though you still have your sense of honor and dignity, you must now co-exist among those who have none.
Society is supposed to have safety nets for which one may recover when and if they fall. However, those safety nets are filled with people who don’t deserve them and really don’t need them and are repeatedly denied to those like myself who do.
When it comes to those who have caused unthinkable harm to myself and my kids, and my selfish insincere fair weather friends. I used to sincerely feel sorry for their souls. However, even that has passed!

Life is a series of events. Big and small, good and bad, ups and downs. The greater the ups, the deeper the downs. It's about being aware of yourself and others, being grounded and not losing touch with reality. And of all the insights that come with all of it.
